Peptide Reconstitution Calculator
Work out the concentration of a reconstituted vial and the volume that holds a target amount. Pick a product or enter your own numbers; results update as you type.
This calculator does arithmetic for preparing laboratory solutions. It is not dosing or administration guidance. All TXBioResearch products are sold for research use only and are not for human or animal use. Check every result against your lab's protocol before use.
How it works
Concentration is the amount of powder divided by the volume of diluent: a 10 mg vial with 2 mL added holds 5 mg/mL, which is 5,000 mcg/mL.
Volume for a target amount is the target divided by the concentration: 250 mcg ÷ 5,000 mcg/mL = 0.05 mL (50 µL).
Aliquots per vial is the vial amount divided by the target: 10,000 mcg ÷ 250 mcg = 40.
For blends, each compound's concentration is shown separately, and you can measure the target by the whole blend or by any one compound in it.
Common questions
How do I convert mg to mcg?
1 mg = 1,000 mcg (micrograms). The calculator converts for you, so you can enter the vial in mg and the target in mcg.
How much diluent should I add?
It depends on your protocol. More diluent gives a lower concentration, which makes each aliquot a larger volume that is easier to measure accurately. Less diluent gives a stronger solution and smaller volumes.
Bacteriostatic water or sterile water?
Bacteriostatic water contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a preservative, so a vial can be drawn from more than once. Sterile water has no preservative and is meant for single use. Some peptides, such as IGF-1 LR3, are commonly reconstituted in dilute acetic acid instead; follow the guidance for the compound you are working with.
Can IU be converted to mg?
Not with a single rule. International units measure biological activity, and the conversion differs from compound to compound. Keep IU products in IU for both the vial and the target.
How should reconstituted peptides be stored?
Typically refrigerated at 2–8°C, protected from light, and used within the timeframe your protocol specifies. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Unreconstituted powder is usually stored at −20°C.
